Following the dismissal of Darren Carrington last week following a DUII Charge at the beginning of July, Nelson leads the charge at the Wide Receiver position. He has a total of 92 receptions in his Oregon Career, which some see as a low number.
Nelson has some friendly Pac-12 Competition that Oregon will see in 2017 including Washington Receiver Dante Pettis, and Colorado’s George Frazier. Half of the list includes experienced players and are Seniors at the position. When it comes to versatility, there are few that come close to what Nelson has done on the field for Oregon.
With the loss of Darren Carrington, Charles Nelson leads a fairly young talented group of Wide Receivers that also includes Dillon Mitchell and Malik Lovette who changed to the Wideout position during Spring Camp. The Oregon Ducks also have several highly touted incoming recruits in the Class of 2017 that will surely see playing time.
Daewood Davis and Johnny Johnson III will bring much-needed depth and Head Coach Willie Taggart has a few cards up his sleeve with players that are not defined in a category but placed in a slot labeled ‘Athlete’. Bruce Judson is one that could make a difference as well in 2017.
