Oregon Football: Defensive Lineman Rex Manu Will Miss 2017 Season
Oregon Football received some bad news on Monday for an already depleted Defensive Line when it was announced that Rex Manu would miss the upcoming season.
Manu was one of a few with experience on the Line with 20 combined tackles over the last two seasons before an injury against Utah last year ended his 2016 season. The reason given for missing 2017 is the lingering injury. The hope is he can heal up with a redshirt season available and attempt to make a return for Oregon Football in 2018 according to the Oregonian.

Over the weekend, Oregon also lost incoming Freshman Rutger Reitmaier who was expected to contribute in 2017. Now the Ducks have a challenge on their hands entering Fall Camp in a few weeks. How can the team develop a Defensive Line that needs to withstand a tough schedule once Pac-12 play begins, and can remain healthy and competitive?
Line Coach Joe Salave’a does have a few options on the table. With the 2017 Recruiting Class there may be a few ‘athletes’ that can find a new home on Defense. Jordan Scott coming off a solid Spring may find himself in the Starter mix entering the season. During Spring Camp, he was a beast that the Offensive Line could not move.
Unfortunately, the media will not be able to talk with Freshman this season, a rule imposed early by Head Coach Willie Taggart. Their actions will have to be spoken on the field.
