Oregon Football Fall Camp Report: Brenden Schooler Shifting To Offense?
Oregon Football is in their first week of Practice and two players may have new positions for 2017.
While it is very early there was one noticable change on Thursday. The Ducks Defensive leader in Interceptions last season, Brenden Schooler was on the practice field at the Hatfield-Dowlin Complex wearing a white jersey – reserved for Offensive Players. Quarterback Justin Herbert was asked about how the first week of practice was with the Wide Receviers, “I think it’s going really well. They are really athletic guys. We’ve spent a lot of time out here.”

Herbert was then very upfront about Schooler on the Offensive side of the ball, at least in practice, “Brenden Schooler is really athletic. He’s really good on both sides of the ball. We’ll be glad to have him on ours.”
Charles Nelson leads the Wide Receiver Corps that lacks an experienced body with the departure of Darren Carrington. WIth Freshman joining the rest of the team for the first time on Wednesday, some young receivers could also step into a key role for the upcoming season. Aside from the underclassmen, another player is shifting positions.
Taj Griffin, who has spent the better part of the offseason recovering from a knee injury should be ready to go in time for the first game of the season, but he won’t be in the backfield. Griffin is expected to bring his speed to the Slot Receiver position.
Willie Taggart said he plans to use who he feels will help the team win on the field. It appears that philosophy now impacts positions and willl likely also mean playing Freshman, something that his predecessors rarely did.
