Oregon Football picked up a big time Defensive Commitment in an area of need on Friday.

Head Coach Willie Taggart and the Coaching Staff are still reaping the benefits from the HIgh School Camp from last weekend with the addition of 4-Star Defensive End Malcolm Lamar. Over the last two weeks the storyline was on Offense with the commitment of three Offensive Lineman to the Class of 2018, giving the Ducks the #1 Recruiting Class accordng to Rivals. Now, the Ducks have added some padding to their lead.

Malcolm Lamar is rated 8th best at Weakside Linebacker by 247Sports and had over 20 offers on the table. He is also considered the 35th best player out of the State of Florida, which has become a recruiting pipeline for Taggart since he arrived in Eugene back in December. Four of the twenty-two commits for 2018 hail from the Sunshine State.

In the case of Lamar, it wa part word of mouth. Oregon Football has three commits from Armwood High school starting with Class fo 2017. Darrian McNeal who helped bring Wide Receiver Warren Thompson on board, and finally Malcolm Lamar. Thompson was asked last month about the chance that the 4-Star Defensive End would join him as an Oregon Duck. Then he said ‘very high’ according to the Oregonian.

Willie Taggart has been tireless in recruiting and in February the Ducks may sign their best Class ever. What the Oregon Football program will have in 2018 will be a big boost to their Defense up front with a player who can get off the edge and get to the Quarterback.
