Oregon Football and UCLA is not a game of glamour, but there will have to be a winner and a loser.

Both have intriguing storylines, and according to College Football Matrix, that may be about all. The Offense for both sides is not what it was three weeks ago. Dave Bartoo broke down the Ducks Offensive Efficiency over the last month and Oregon comes in at 61st. The Bruins, after a less than stellar start, are actually worse at 71st.

Braxton Burmeister is a big reason to why Oregon fell from 7th in the Nation entering the Cal game to where they are now. Bartoo broke it down in a single sentence, “The 4-week moving average on these two teams on Offensive and Defensive Scoring Efficiency is not safe for work You shouldn’t even watch it.”

The area that stands out for Oregon Football, is the Defense entering the game vs UCLA. The Ducks gave up 49 points last weekend at Stanford, but many of those points were the fault of the Offense. Bartoo sees a game where Oregon may be able to capitalize on the other side of the ball, “You have two terrible Defenses. Oregon’s Offense is abysmal without Herbert…UCLA is not going to be competitive on Defense…I don’t think it’s going to take a lot to beat UCLA, they are just a mess right now.”

It is pretty clear that a change is in the air in Westwood. Bartoo believes that the end of the Jim Mora Era is near, and may come sooner rather than later, “Here’s your canary in the mine shaft on this one. UCLA has given up. When they started losing, they started folding up the tent. It is over. It is absolutely done in Westwood. I wouldn’t be surprised if they lost out. They don’t care. Nobody cares.”

Quarterback Josh Rosen, a potential NFL Draft pick, has not shown he can lead after a Top 20 Ranking to start the season for UCLA. Bartoo said he had no effect on the Matrix numbers for this week.

Despite the setback and injuries this season, Bartoo added that Oregon is competitive and has enough talent to compete, “They proved it in the first few weeks. They have the talent, they could beat anyone in the Pac-12.”

A side note, PENALTIES. He added that the numbers are scary and that it seems that Taggart doesn’t really care about penalties. If the current trend continues, fans will lose more than sleep, “If the penalties continue this season, his teams will be in the bottom five for penalties per game three times in the last nine years(as a Head Coach)”
