"Oregon Football Fall Camp is underway and Head Coach Mario Cristobal has seen key signs of team chemistry that should lead to a more successful season for the Ducks."

When players are in the weight room as you are heading into the office, it is a good sign and that is part of what has happened this summer with the Oregon Football team. On Friday the team opened Fall Camp and in Practice on Sunday, the Coaching Staff addressed the big elephant in the room from last season head-on.

While a key area for any football team is fundamentals, there has been a bigger focus this offseason and the first year coach is aware of what penalties can do throughout the season, “We have officials out there for practice. We had three penalties too much(on Sunday). We want to limit penalties to once every 30 plays at a maximum. We make it very clear to our guys that your mental intensity is going to be reflected by how and when you show up.”

Over the offseason players worked with the Coaching Staff on everything from workout routines and nutrition to the right hand placement on the field so that holding penalties are not a common occurrence in key situations killing momentum as they did last season.

Mario Cristobal also opened up some on his Coaching Philosophy that is not hard to understand, but he says the process helps to create a better communication between coach and player, “We’re going to make you and break bad habits moving forward.”

Oregon Football has a ton of talent on the field and in 2018, Cristobal was not shy on Sunday talking about how he would use his players.

From different schemes that offer player options depending on what needs to be called, it seems that everyone could be in line in key moments, “We’ll take..Jaylon Redd and see if he can cover somebody. We’ll take a Defensive Lineman (and) see if he can provide an extra blocker….we’ll do it all….our personnel groupings are pretty multiple on Offense.”

The Oregon Ducks are in Fall Camp through the end of the month.

The team opens the 2018 Regular Season on Saturday, September 1st hosting Bowling Green. (5 pm PT, Pac-12 Network)
