The Oregon Women’s Basketball team has shown over the past few seasons that talent can become elite. On Wednesday, the Pac-12 Coaches agreed with that statement.

Last season, the Oregon Ducks went far enough to host the first two rounds of the NCAA Tournament and they will look to do it again this season. The Preseason Accolades started with the announcement of the Pac-12 Coaches choice for the team to win the Conference. The winner was Oregon. Of course, each coach has one vote, and they cannot vote for their own team. It was the first time in Program History that the Ducks were given the honor.

Over the last seasons, it has typically been the Stanford Cardinal who took the honor. They came in second.

Oregon returns four starters who have racked up a ton of chemistry over the last two seasons with Sabrina Ionecu leading the charge. Ruthy Hebard, Satou Sabally and Senior Maite Cazorla. Ionescu and Cazorla will make up what could be the best backcourt in the Nation this season.

The Oregon Ducks came in with 121 points in the poll and 11 first place votes from the Pac-12 Conference Coaches.

Oregon also has a talented bench led by Oti Gildon. The Ducks also welcome Satou Sabally’s sister Nyara Sabally. Unfortunately, the younger Sabally will miss the 2018 season after suffering a knee injury playing Internationally for Germany in the FIBA U18 European Championship over the Summer.

Head Coach Kelly Graves has added other top talent in recruiting. Freshman Taylor Chavez was the 2018 Gatorade National Player of the Year and Transfer Erin Boley, who sat out a year due to the Transfer Rules will be ready to help Oregon this season. Boley was the 2016 Gatorade National Player of the Year and transferred last year from Notre Dame. Despite not playing on the court, Boley did participate over the Summer in National and International Competition with her teammates.

The Oregon Women’s Basketball team opens the 2018 Regular Season at Matthew Knight Arena on November 10th hosting Syracuse.
