Oregon Football(5-1, 2-1 Pac-12) meets the Washington Huskies(5-2, 3-1 Pac-12) uses their ground game to beat the Huskies in Overtime on Saturday. Here is how the game played out.

Oregon Tops Washington In Overtime (Final)

For both teams this is just the fourth meeting when Oregon and Washington are ranked,, but these two teams know each other well. It is the 111th meeting between the Ducks and Huskies and the cross-state rivalry has gone the way of Washington the last two meetings. the last time Oregon Quarterback Justin Herbert saw the Washington Huskies at Autzen Stadium, he was a Freshman and it was his first career start. It did not go well in a blowout loss.

Entering this season, Herbert has transformed into not only a more vocal leader for his team but also a Heisman and NFL Quality Draft prospect. There are five teams with NFL Scouts at Autzen Stadium today, including four from the Denver Broncos. (That would be a fun reunion in Denver, right?)

The Washington Huskies come in ranked third overall in Defense in the nation. They are also a team that is one of the best at making adjustments during the game. I expect Quarterback Justin Herbert has worked on timing this week with his Wide Receivers. It will come into play early on Saturday. If Oregon starts our sluggish as they have at times this season, it could very well be a loss for the Ducks.

The Oregon Defense has had quite a few big flashes this season. Ugo Amadi at Safety has played all over the field. Justin Hollins has big play ability. The difference between last season and this season is pretty clear under Defensive Coordinator Jim Leavitt. The team has improved to be one of the top run stopping teams in the nation in 2018. They have also used the ‘bye’ week well to rest up and get healthy for the game against Washington.

One area of the Huskies Defense that bears watching is the Secondary. Of the eight sacks the team has this season, five have come from the Defensive secondary.

Oregon Football meets Washington at 12:30pm Pacific Time on ABC.
