Oregon Basketball comes home after a trip to New York that left the team showing two different sides, but it appears they learned from their loss to Iowa.

Head Coach Dana Altman wasn’t pleased with how the team prepared for Iowa last week at Madison Square Garden, “I was really disappointed the way we prepared vs Iowa, the lack of energy. We were much more energetic(getting ready) for Syracuse.”  Green Bay comes to Matthew Knight Arena with a 3-2 record. The Phoenix needed overtime to get past Eastern Washington last week. Oregon had just six personal fouls in the game against EWU.

Early in the season, discipline and preparation are important and it is better to learn that lesson early. With the win over Syracuse, it appears the lesson was taken to heart by the Ducks. In having an opportunity to see some of Green Bay this season(since they too are playing in the 2K Empire Classic), Altman has been impressed despite their record, “They are very talented. I like their athleticism, I like their toughness. They are a deep group, they play eleven, twelve guys. ”

For the Oregon Ducks, the playmakers are beginning to emerge this season. Bol Bol has shown his talent inside and from three-point range. He has a finesse on the ball from distance and has been an important producer early if he can stay out of foul trouble.

Defensively, Oregon appears in decent shape with Kenny Wooten, Bol Bol, and Francis Okoro getting key minutes.  Altman has been pleased with the effort, “I think Bol and Kenny have done a decent job around the basket. Out defense has a long ways to go. I think we’ve done some things good this early in the season.”

Green Bay comes to Eugene with some momentum and winning their last two games. JayQuan McCloud hit five three-pointers and finished with 23 against Morehead State. Shanquan Hemphill had 17 in the game.

Oregon Basketball and Green Bay tipoff at 7 pm Pacific Time Tuesday in the 2K Empire Classic. The game will be broadcast on Pac-12 Network.
