Sabrina Ionescu had a homecoming to the Bay Area and helped the Oregon Ducks in two key early season road wins.

The Oregon Ducks first met UC Riverside on Friday. The Ducks saw five players in double figures in the 94-44 win. While the Offense rolled, it was the Oregon Defense that was impressive. The road team forced 16 turnovers, had 11 steals and a block. Ruthy Hebard had 19 points and 5 rebounds and went 4 for 5 from the free throw line. Sabrina Ionescu had 16 points and was 4 for 8 from the free throw line as the Ducks ball movement took center stage.

Oregon has 40 points in the paint and hit over 60 percent from the floor and better than 30 percent from three-point range.

The Saint Mary’s Tournament drew games on back to back days for the Ducks, similar to the NCAA Tournament, but as expected it did not phase Oregon.

The Ducks took to the floor again Saturday to meet the host Saint Mary’s and the outcome was equally impressive. Oregon shot 45 percent from the floor and saw 15 steals and just 11 turnovers. Sabrina Ionescu had 27 points which was the game high. Oregon also used turnovers to their advantage picking up 26 points off 21 Gaels turnovers.

Satou Sabally finished with 11 points and a career-high nine rebounds. Again, Oregon was able to spread the ball and movement was more impressive in the second game. Oregon has 18 assists against Saint Mary’s.

Ionescu helped the team pull away in the third quarter scoring 10 points in 15 minutes, an impressive quarter for the Ducks Junior. Oregon won 79-55. The team is now 6-0 on the season.

Oregon Women’s Basketball will have two of their next three games on the road. The Ducks host Long Beach State next weekend before traveling to East Lansing to take on Michigan State. Oregon will then travel to Brookings to meet South Dakota State.

The Oregon Ducks face Long Beach State next Sunday at 2 pm Pacific Time from Matthew Knight Arena.
