Oregon Women’s Basketball Head Coach Kelly Graves has tested his team this season. After a road game loss against Michigan State, the Ducks bounced back with an 87-79 win at San Diego State.
It was Sabrina Ionescu who had the key shot with under a minute remaining hitting a clutch three-pointer and sending momentum in the way of the road team. Oregon struggled at the start, but made adjustments toward the end of the first half. The Ducks were down 21-18 after the first quarter and a quick start by South Dakota State.
Once again, everyone who saw the floor scored for Oregon Satou Sabally led with 27 points off 10 for 18 shooting. The Ducks shot 47 percent from the floor and just 30 percent from three-point range. They were 9 for 24 from beyond the arc. Oregon hit 80 percent from the free throw line and lead the nation in that category for the second straight week.

Both teams were extremely efficiency combining for 32 assists. The Oregon Defense came away with 11 steals and 3 blocks and the Ducks finished the game on a 6-0 run in a tough environment in a comeback victory over a good South Dakota State team on the road. South Dakota State finished the game just 1 for 7 from the floor and had several opportunities in the final few minutes.
Ionescu for the second straight game led the team in assists with 9 finding open teammates on the floor for easy shots. Erin Boley, who has been effective this season was shut down hitting just one shot on Tuesday night, but other playmakers for the Oregon Ducks stepped up. Ruthy Hebard finished the game with 12 points and 8 rebounds.
Oregon returns home to face another challenge in Mississippi State who is entering the game ranked higher than Oregon after the Ducks loss at Michigan State. 7th Ranked Oregon meets 5th Ranked Mississippi State Tuesday at Matthew Knight Arena.
The Ducks and Bulldogs tipoff Tuesday at 7pm. The game will be broadcast on ESPN2.
