Oregon Basketball: Ducks Handle Florida A&M, Bailey Jr. Leads The Way
The Oregon Ducks struggled in the first half but pulled away in the second half in a win over Florida A&M.
It was again the play of Victor Bailey Jr. that helped Oregon to a win. The Ducks played their second straight game without Freshman Bol Bol who was out with a foot injury. Earlier this week Head Coach Dana Altman said Bol was listed as day to day and would be re-evaluated. Without their early points leader, other players needed to step up.
The first half saw Oregon take a lead, but as a team they were outshot by Florida A&M(60 percent to 50 percent from the floor.) The Oregon Ducks were 3 for 11 from three-point range in the first half and that was the difference in the 38-23 halftime lead. Florida A&M used free throws to stay in the game landing 8 of 11 in the first half and adding 11 assists to key their offense.

For the game, Oregon saw three players in double figures led by Victor Bailey Jr., and Paul White with 16 and 13 respectively. Altman has found an early season fix for not having Bol on the floor by starting both Payton Pritchard and Will Richardson. Both can play point guard and both have aspects to their game that are strengths when they are on the floor together. This was the second straight game that both started the game. Both combined for seven of the teams fifteen assists in the game.
Kenny Wooten struggled to find his offense but had seven rebounds. Francis Okoro also found the Defensive glass with six rebounds and seven points. Oregon had just 16 bench points and pretty much gave up playing Defense in the final three minutes winning the game 71-64.
The Oregon Ducks continue the non-conference slate visiting the Baylor Bears on Friday at 4 pm Pacific Time. The game will be on ESPN2.
