Oregon Football will have two key Offensive pieces back for the 2019 season.

Quarterback Justin Herbert ended the speculation on Wednesday announcing he will be back at the University of Oregon in 2019. Earlier this week, Offensive Lineman Calvin Throckmorton also announced he will return.

Throckmorton received an evaluation from the National Football League and decided it was in his best interest to come back to the Ducks for the 2019 season. Of course, the news of Herbert is the highlight.

Justin Herbert was primed to have a big season in 2018, but in big games, the Offense was unable to come through. While the Ducks Road Record started at 1-0, the team struggled against Arizona and at Washington State. While the problem was not Herbert’s directly, he was affected by play calling by Marcus Arroyo that did not take advantage of his talents on the field, especially against Washington State.

One player to watch as we enter 2019 is Dillon Mitchell. The Ducks leader at Wide Receiver is wrapping up his Junior year with the Ducks and also has a decision to make about his future. If Mitchell decides to depart, Oregon does have a bevy of talent looking for playing time including experience from Johnny Johnson III and Brendan Schooler and Sophomore speedster Jaylon Redd. New talent for the Class of 2019 includes Lance Wilhoite and Micah Pittman.

With Herbert returning, Oregon Football becomes a team of relevance for the 2019 season and a team that can compete for the Pac-12 Championship. A win in the Red Box Bowl next week would certainly help the persona of a team that has struggled on the road the last two seasons.

Wilhoite and Pittman are part of the best recruiting class in Oregon Football History and the top Class for 2019 in the Pac-12 after the early signing period. Nationally it is the 5th ranked class.

Oregon Football is currently preparing for the Red Box Bowl on New Year’s Eve. The Ducks meet Michigan State for a Noon Kickoff on FOX.
