Oregon Football received good news on Thursday when Troy Dye announced he would be returning for his Senior Season in 2019.

The Ducks have close to 20 players with Starting Experience returning next season. Along with Dye, Quarterback Justin Herbert will also be back along with the entire Offensive Line. What is more impressive is that every player has some experience on the field, most of them Starting Experience, not just practice experience.

For Troy Dye, the decision to return took a little time, “I’ ve been thinking about it since the Oregon State game. Once I came down to the final decision it kind of popped into my head to come back and it felt right.”

On Thursday with the media, he touched on the factors in his decision. Of course, playing with his brother Travis Dye, a Running Back with the Ducks, was one of them, “I talked it over with my family. It came down to the one last year you get. I just want to do what I can to create special moments while I’m here.”

When it comes to playing at the next level, there are several directions that Dye could potentially go. His size and athleticism fit at both Inside Linebacker and potentially at Safety, where he speed could be more utilized. His focus next season with the Ducks will be inside, “My goal is to put on some weight, to improve the middle and make us a better defense.”

With the loss of Jaylen Jelks to graduation, Dye will be a key player on the Oregon Defense in 2019, along with several new faces including the top recruit in the country in Kayon Thibodeaux who has his first week as a Duck this week with the Spring Term.

Troy Dye led the Oregon Defense in tackles last season.
