The Oregon Ducks return home after a road sweep last weekend that saw a blowout at Stanford and one of the worst Cardinal losses in their history.

To say that the Oregon Women’s Basketball team is playing at a different level entering the second half of the Pac-12 season does not need to be said. The efficiency of how the team goes about their business on the court is just plain silly. One area they have worked on in recent weeks is Defense, and the work they have put in during practice came through against the Stanford Cardinal in a blowout 40 point win that sent shockwaves through the Pac-12.

Sabrina Ionecu led the way vs the Cardinal and has rediscovered her shot after struggling from the floor over part of the last few weeks. Despite not finding the basket, she found other ways to be productive in the way of assists and defense. Ionescu is the clear leader of this team, but this season, other players have stepped into a similar role. Satou Sabally is showing she can be a star in her own right.

Sabally is averaging 20 points per game in Pac-12 play this season. Against Stanford, she had 11 points in 24 minutes on the floor. The Oregon Ducks lead the NCAA putting up over 90 points per game and Oregon used several big ‘wrinkles’ against the Cardinal to put up points.

On several possessions, Sabally and Erin Boley hit big three-point shots. The Ducks Offense often kept the Cardinal Defense guessing as to where the ball was going. When you have players of the Ducks’ Caliber, it is a hard Offense to stop.

Oregon returns to Matthew Knight Arena with an undefeated Pac-12 record and will play in their first sellout of the season against Oregon State Friday night. Tipoff for the Civil War with 9th ranked Oregon State is set for 6 pm Pacific Time on Pac-12 Network.
