The opening game in Eugene on Friday has 7th seed Texas against 10 seed Indiana and one player for the Longhorns has found her position on the floor.

Sug Sutton has started every game for the Texas Longhorns this season. She is averaging over 12 points per game and has been the teams Point Guard for all 32 games after spending time at different positions over the last two seasons. The 23rd ranked Longhorns rank fourth nationally in rebounds besting opponents by more than 10. The rebounding battle could be worth the price of admission on Sunday if the Longhorns advance.

On the other side, the Indiana Hoosiers played a season in the Big Ten where the Conference fell flat of expectations. The team was 8-10 in Big Ten play but finished the season at 20-12 to be named the 10 seed in Eugene for the Women’s NCAA Tournament. It is their first berth since the 2016 season so some players do have NCAA Tournament experience. Texas seems to be there every season.

For Indiana, Ali Patberg is averaging 16 points and 4 assists per game this season and will look to push the Offense. The team has one player remaining on the roster from the 2016 Tourney run. Kym Royster saw limited action in the NCAA Tournament her Freshman season. One player will have a homecoming of sorts on Friday.

Bendu Yeany is an Oregon native, who left to play for Indiana.

As a team, Indiana is hitting just over 40 percent from the floor per game and 25 percent from three-point range. The first game in Eugene could come down to a rebounding battle. Indiana is hitting 74 percent as a team from the charity stripe while holding opponents to 70 percent.

Texas and Indiana tipoff in the first game at 4 pm from Matthew Knight Arena on Friday. Oregon and Portland State will tip 30 minutes after the conclusion of the first game.
