Women’s NCAA Tournament: Oregon Ducks Roll Past Portland State
The Oregon Ducks shook off the rust early and dominated Portland State on Friday night.
Both teams opened the game shooting well as the Oregon Ducks took a 22-15 lead after the first quarter. Portland State was able to make some big shots against Oregon early, but any early signs of rust from not playing for close to two weeks did not last long.
In the second quarter, Oregon began to dominate and pull away leading 39-20 with just over two minutes until halftime. The Ducks quickly found their mojo shooting a blistering 60 percent from the floor in the opening 20 minutes. Oregon forced Portland State into 9 turnovers turning them into 10 points on the Offensive end.

The Oregon Ducks took a 20 point lead into halftime as both Satou Sabally and Ruthy Hebard were scoring in double digits. Both had 11 combined rebounds in the opening half and Oregon had 26 points in the paint.
In the first five minutes of the third quarter, Oregon pushed the lead to 30 over Portland State. It was clear that the Ducks were in control and able to do pretty much what they wanted on Offense The Defense clamped down in the final quarter allowing just 6 points and holding Portland State to 0 for 6 shooting over the final few minutes of the game.
Oregon advanced easily after a 78-40 win.
Satou Sabally and Ruthy Hebard both finished the game with double doubles. Hebard finished with 22 points of 9 for 13 shooting. Oregon dominated in the paint with 38 points. The Oregon Defense forced PSU into 17 turnovers turning them into 14 points. Oregon had an impressive rebounding advantage pulling down 50 boards and holding Portland State to 23 for the game.
The Oregon Ducks will face Indiana for a chance to go to the Sweet 16 next week in Portland. Tip time Sunday is set for 6 pm from Matthew Knight Arena.
