Over the last week, two Oregon Basketball players Victor Bailey, Jr. and Miles Norris announced they were intending to leave the program.

To me, this is somewhat surprising. Bailey Jr. has been with Oregon for several seasons and has had a hand in the success of the program over the last few seasons, including helping get the team into the NCAA Tournament this past season.

Victor Bailey, Jr. averaged 7 points and 2 rebounds per game averaging about 20 minutes of floor time per game. He may have seen the writing on the wall and decided that splitting time on the court was not the way to go for his final two seasons. Bailey Jr., as it stands, would be sharing the floor with Payton Pritchard, Will Richardson, and likely Chris Duarte. However, I think that both of these players are forgetting one thing, Head Coach Dana Altman finds ways to get his playmakers on the floor.

Oregon Ducks Head Coach Dana Altman has been a mastermind of finding playing time for his players. A College Basketball Season is long, arduous and can see injuries. Over the last few seasons, it has been foot injuries. Last season, Bol Bol suffered a broken foot before Pac-12 play forcing Oregon to form a new Offensive scheme that ultimately worked its way to a 12 game winning streak and a loss to eventual National Champion Virginia in the NCAA Tournament.

Miles Norris took some time to find his place on the court and both players had a limited role during the win streak and in the NCAA Tournament. The Ducks Starters saw more time down the stretch. For Norris, his Freshman season had a bright spot or two. He averaged 3 points and 2 rebounds per game for the Oregon Ducks.

Head Coach Dana Altman has a busy summer ahead. He will have six roster spots to fill entering the 2019-20 season with several key pieces likely returning with Payton Pritchard, Kenny Wooten, and Francis Okoro. Both Wooten and Pritchard will test the ‘NBA Waters’ over the coming month.
