It was not a good night for Oregon Basketball on Thursday as one player fell, and two went undrafted.

Bol Bol was a  Top 10 talent before he even stepped foot in Eugene. He had a double-double in every game he played for the Oregon Ducks, but was lost for the Pac-12 part of the season with a foot injury. Despite the loss of Bol, Oregon went on a ten game winning streak late and pushed their way to respectability in the NCAA Tournament.

The injury to Bol left a lot on the table. There were questions about his health, despite his solid shooting effort. Bol fell to the middle of the second round to the Miami Heat and was then moved to the Denver Nuggets. While his draft spot is a disappointment, he will certainly have the opportunity to show off his game at the next level.

Two other former Oregon Ducks decided at the end of the season that it was time to take their game to the next level. Kenny Wooten had three seasons under his belt with Oregon. Louis King decided he would attempt to be another ‘one and done’ Duck. The plans for both were derailed on Thursday night as both went undrafted and now have a decision to make. Returning to school is not an option.

Kenny Wooten has proven he has the athleticism to play at the NBA Level. King is in a similar spot but is still fairly raw in certain areas. I expect both to have their opportunities whether it is in the NBA G-League or Overseas perhaps.

Wooten did not attend the NBA Combine but was given a G-League Tryout which leads me to believe the connections he made there could lead to a potential signing. As of now, neither Wooten or King have signed a contract.

The NBA Summer League Rosters for Las Vegas are already being announced and the one Oregon Duck who had success on Draft Night will be there. Bol Bol will have some variation of yellow in his uniform but will be out to prove he hasn’t lost touch with his game following an injury.

The NBA Summer League begins July 1st and runs through the 15th.
