Sabrina Ionescu and Ruthy Hebard helped Team USA go undefeated and take the gold medal at the Pan American Games in Peru.

Through the first five Pan America Games in Lima, Peru, Team USA is averaging close to 21 points per game in 3×3 Basketball. The next closest team, Argentina is putting up 15 points per contest. Two Oregon Ducks are making headway with both Ruthy Hebard and Sabrina Ionescu making their presence felt getting the team to 6-0.

3×3 Basketball consists of shots that count for fewer points than traditional College Basketball. Close shots are a point, distance shots count for two points.

While we know her accomplishments at the University of Oregon, the International Fans are now getting to know Sabrina Ionescu. She has led Team USA in the first five games averaging over 6 points per game putting up and making shots from distance making 12 of 21 shots.

Ruthy Hebard has also made her presence felt inside making key shots to help the team.

Team USA beat Brazil again in the semi-final round 21-5 to make the final on Monday morning. They took care of Argentina as both Sabrina Ionescu and Ruthy Hebard scored seven points each in the final leading to the top spot on the podium and the gold medal.

Over the last few years, both Hebard and Ionescu have taken part in 3×3 Basketball at the International level. I expect both will be a part of the sport when it becomes an Olympic event next year in Tokyo helping to further their respective careers and add to their respective resumes.

Sabrina Ionescu will continue her International Summer Tour with FIBA and playing 3×3 ball. Following the wins at the Pan American Games in Lima Peru the Oregon Senior heads to Voiron, France to begin play on Thursday in a FIBA 3×3 Tournament.
