Oregon Football will open the 2019 season ranked in the Top 15 of the Coaches Poll.

It is probably appropriate that Oregon Football is ranked inside the Top 15 and not higher. Part of that reason I believe is because of a weaker Pac-12 Conference which should shake itself out in the first month of the regular season. It is finally starting to feel more like the College Football season is getting closer.

While Oregon Football came in at 13th in the initial Amway Coaches Poll, the Auburn Tigers, are also ranked at 16th. It will be the first season-opening game where Oregon has faced a ranked opponent in the Mario Cristobal era on August 31st. As far as the rest of the Coaches Poll, several Pac-12 teams made the list and others did not.

The USC Trojans were one of the teams that has had some hype over the summer, but not for the Coaches Poll. Washington ranked highest in the Conference of Champions at 12th, followed by Oregon, Utah(15), Washington State(21) and Stanford(23). UCLA and Arizona State received votes good enough for 51st and 53rd and will need some early season wins to get some momentum going.

The top of the Amway Coaches Poll should be no surprise. Clemson earned the top spot followed by Alabama, Georgia, Oklahoma, Ohio State, Louisiana State, and Michigan.

For Oregon Football it is the 11th time in 12 seasons that the Ducks have started the reguar season ranked in either the Associated Press or Coaches poll. On the offensive side of the ball, Oregon returns 10 starters which ties for most in the country led by Heisman hopeful Justin Herbert at Quarterback and an experienced group of running backs led by Sophomore CJ Verdell.

Defensively, Oregon has seven players returning including Troy Dye. Oregon also said goodbye to Jim Leavitt and welcome Andy Avalos as new Defensive Coordinator.

Oregon Football opens Fall Camp on Friday. The regular season starts on Saturday, August 31st in the Advocare Classic against Auburn. (4:30 pm PT, ABC)
