Oregon Football: Ducks First Foe Auburn Tigers Lose Wide Receiver To Hand Injury
Auburn Football lost a key threat at Wide Receiver to injury on Sunday.
Wide Receiver Anthony Schwartz is among the fastest players for the Auburn Tigers. He was injured working in drills on Sunday afternoon, breaking a bone in his hand. On Monday he had successful surgery and will be out for some time. Schwartz is a two-way athlete with the Tigers for both track and field and football.
The now Sophomore missed spring practice as he was competing with track and field. Now, three days into fall camp, the Tigers are down one of their fastest players on offense. Following surgery, Schwartz has three weeks to get back on the field in time for Oregon Football. I honestly don’t see it happening. The Auburn Tigers do have others with experience at the Wide Receiver position, but it is clear that Schwartz was the centerpiece of the group.

Auburn returns Will Hastings and Eli Stove to the lineup this season. Both have battled injuries in their respective careers and coming back from an ACL Injury can take some time. While they may be at 100 percent to start the season, that type of injury can limit a players speed and ability for at least a year or more. Shaun Shivers will also be in play for Auburn. Shivers also spent time with track and field missing spring ball.
Entering the season, both Oregon and Auburn have a chance to make a move toward the Top Ten before Conference play begins. Oregon enters the matchup ranked 13th, Auburn is 16th. There is a jumble of Pac-12 teams around the Ducks with Utah just behind as well as Penn State, and the Washington Huskies just ahead.
Oregon Football and Auburn meet in the Advocare Classic on Saturday, August 31st at 4:30 pm Pacific Time on ABC.
