The former Oregon Wide Receiver has been quiet in Fall Camp and it may be a cause for concern.

Former Oregon Football Wide Receiver Dillon Mitchell departed early for the NFL and was selected by the Minnesota Vikings, but we have not heard much from him entering the season. In fact, one article says he is not worth the time when it comes to Fantasy Football. This should be a cause for concern. Will Mitchell be cut this weekend from the team that drafted him?

More from Autzen Zoo

According to Scout, Dillon Mitchell is not projected to be worth a roster spot and his points per game average is 1.2 points per game, which means that despite being healthy, the talent ahead of him at Wide Receiver is better than a player that may have been better off spending his senior season with Oregon Football.

"Dillon Mitchell is projected for 1.2 fantasy points in week 1 which only ranks him as the #148 projected wide receiver and not a fantasy-relevant player for the week. This is a typical week for him with a FP projection that is the same as his projected per game average over the rest of the season."

As a seventh-round NFL Draft pick, it appears that Mitchell is getting up to speed with the Minnesota Offense, but in their final tuneup for the regular season against the Buffalo Bills, the Vikings gave up three touchdowns in the final minute losing 27-23. Mitchell had a chance at a long pass in the final minutes, but the ball was picked off right in front of him.

While he has put in the work on the practice field and has shown consistency over the last few weeks, I do net expect Mitchell to see a slip in his locker on Sunday, the day teams need to get to their respective 53-man rosters in advance of the start of the regular season Thursday. However, his could become a cautionary tale that has been played out many times before for players that decided to come out early that struggled to not only find a place but success at the NFL level.

NFL Rosters need to be finalized by 4 pm Eastern Time on Saturday, August 31st.
