We spoke with someone who knows the ins and outs of the Auburn Tigers as we get set for Oregon Football vs Auburn.

Earlier this week I had the chance to catch up with FanSided Auburn’s Site Expert Shea Brennaman who has been following Auburn long enough that she is their Twitter ‘Grief Counsellor.’ She shares more about Quarterback Bo Nix who is the biggest question mark of the game, as well as who to keep an eye on for the Auburn Tigers.

More from Autzen Zoo

Autzen Zoo: We know about the Auburn Defense, what player makes them go? Who should Oregon Fans have their eye on Saturday Night?

Shea: “Bo Nix led Pinson Valley High School to back to back state championships where as a senior he threw for 3,975 yards. He was the number one dual-threat quarterback for the 2019 class and has been praised highly for his intelligence in the pocket. He is the son of former Auburn quarterback Patrick Nix and is a lifelong Auburn fan.”

AZ: We know about the Auburn Defense, what player makes them go? Who should Oregon Football Fans have their eye on Saturday Night?

Shea: “The force that makes the Auburn defense go is right in the middle of the line. His name is Derrick Brown and he is a projected first-round draft pick.”

AZ: Auburn has had some injuries in recent years at Wide Receiver. Who should we have our eyes on other than Nix on Offense?

Shea: “Offensively Gus is rotating six running backs, Boobee Whitlow and Kam Martin with track and field star Shaun Shivers at 3. Anthony Schwartz will be a game time decision Saturday but he is regarded as one of the fastest players in all of college sports. Depth is no longer an issue at wide receiver with the returns of Eli Stove and Will Hastings. Look for Seth Williams to make immediate impact.”

AZ: In the trenches, both teams are strong on opposite sides of the ball. How do you think this matchup helps Auburn in the game, and also moving forward for the rest of the season?

“The best test for Auburn will be to face off against the seasoned offensive line for Oregon. Playing against a line of this caliber will pay dividends for Auburn down the road.”

In your time covering Auburn, how does this game compare (as far as fan excitement) as other big games the Tigers have played either in or out of conference?

Shea: “This is a big game for Auburn coming off the disappointment that was last season. There is a lot of momentum for the Tigers going forward with the return of Derrick Brown and Marlon Davidson and we as a fanbase and institution feel as though we have something to prove in the SEC and on the national stage. The same can be said for Oregon as they come into this game carrying the reputation of the PAC 12 with them. Justin Herbert is a projected first-round draft pick and he has the same end goal as Derrick Brown and Marlon Davidson and you as a fanbase share the same mission that we do. Oregon and Auburn fanbases are hands down the most excited going into Week 1.”

Oregon Football and Auburn meet at 4:30 pm Pacific Time Saturday in the Advocare Classic on ESPN.
