After losing in the final nine seconds to the Auburn Tigers on Saturday, Oregon Football is looking for their first win of the season on Saturday vs Nevada and will then begin a long road to the end of the season.

Oregon Football entered the season with the hopes of a chance at the College Football Playoff. With the loss to Auburn, that chance is pretty much gone. If they lose another game it will be for sure and the strength of the Pac-12 Conference is not very good right now. Oregon was the lone ranked team in the Top 15 to lose in the first week of the season and dropped from 11th to 16th in the latest Associated Press poll.

While the Conference of Champions has a handful of ranked teams entering the week, an Oregon Football win vs Auburn would have put the Ducks into the conversation. Now they don’t even face a top ten team the rest of the way, from the looks of it right now. Sure, Washington or Utah could be a top ten team in the next month and Oregon could see both before the end of the year, but Oregon needs to simplify the process.

Oregon Football needs to win the Pac-12 North. If they can manage to win it by two or more games over the next conference foe, that would improve their chances at the College Football Playoff. By winning the Pac-12 North, it also gives them an additional game on the national stage and with some luck and another conference favorite losing in their respective game, Oregon may find their way into the playoff, but that is a long way from Week 2, a potential trap game against a solid opponent with a good Offensive Line that can run the ball.

The Ducks face Nevada on Saturday in their home opener. Kickoff is set for 4:30 pm Pacific Time from Autzen Stadium. The game will also be on Pac-12 Network.
