Oregon Football lost to Auburn last weekend to open the season, but Dave Bartoo with the College Football Matrix saw more positives than negatives despite the outcome.

Both Bartoo and I agree that Oregon will look for(and likely will need) a solid victory this week over Nevada. The Wolf Pack are coming off a big win last week over a Big Ten team in Purdue, “I know Nevada is coming off a really solid win against one of tbe better coaching staff’s in Purdue last week.”

While the Oregon Football Coaching grades remain the same, the strength is the Ducks Defense. If they can stop the run against Nevada, which will not be easy, their talent level on both sides of the ball should be enough for a victory over the Wolf Pack. The Ducks perseverance till the end may mean they are not out of the College Football Playoff conversation, “I think they are as good or better as people have been touting at the beginning of the season. They led the whole game playing conservative not to lose.”

Oregon Football will now have to take care of business the rest of the way and be the ‘one loss’ for other Pac-12 teams along the way, “I’m actually more optimistic about the next eleven than I was before.” Bartoo says everything is still in play for the Ducks, “You can’t lose sight of the playoffs already because you just lost to a very good football team.” He says Oregon needs to simply keep winning and also fans need other teams in the Pac-12 to win unless they are playing the Ducks.

Oregon Football faces Nevada on Saturday. Autzen Zoo will have live coverage starting at 3:30 pm Pacific Time Kickoff is set for 4:30 pm on Pac-12 Network.
