Oregon Football: Ducks Top Arizona, Claim Pac-12 North Title
Oregon Football topped Arizona 34-6 and hit some milestones along the way including their ninth straight win, taking the Pac-12 North title.
Oregon started with the ball and went right to work It took 32 seconds for Justin Herbert to find Johnny Johnson III for a 73-yard touchdown to make it 7-0 Ducks. The Oregon Defense did their job on Arizona’s first drive forcing a three and out. Both teams exchanged possessions without scoring, but the Ducks’ next scoring possession came before the end of the first quarter.
Justin Herbert continued to mix the run and pass options including Spencer Webb and Juwan Johnson. Mycah Pittman caught a pass at the two-yard line and was injured on the play. His arm was landed on awkwardly by an Arizona defender. Three plays later, Cyrus Habibi-Likio ran in for the touchdown. The Ducks led 14-0 with 1:57 left in the first quarter.

Arizona State would start the next series with penalties. In all, there were three with the last one starting them at 3rd and 14. The Ducks Defense and Troy Dye forced a loss of two and a 4th and 16 as Oregon would get the ball back.
Travis Dye started the second quarter with some big runs to get the Ducks inside the Arizona 10 yard line. Three plays later, Oregon would attempt a 20-yard field goal from Camden Lewis. He missed and the Wildcats would take over at the 20-yard line. The Oregon Defense would again be asked to hold and on third and 15, Khalil Tate picked up 21 yards on the ground converting for a first down at the 50-yard line. Arizona would get to the 43 before punting.
On the Ducks next drive, Juwan Johnson was on the end of a 53-yard touchdown pass from Justin Herbert on a flea-flicker. Just as Johnson was an impact player vs USC a few weeks ago, he showed again what he can do on the field in extended the defense of the opposition. Oregon led 21-0.
Arizona would add two field goals before halftime to make it 21-6.
The Wildcats started the second half with the ball and after two incomplete passes on three downs, they were forced to punt. Oregon would take over.
Justin Herbert would find Spencer Webb on their second possession of the second half for a 24-yard touchdown to make it 28-6 Oregon.
Herbert threw an interception just before the end of the third quarter as Scotty Young Jr. gave Arizona life taking the ball from the 6-yard line to the Oregon 47. The quarter ended and Arizona would be faced with a third and five to start the fourth quarter. Kayvon Thibodeaux would sack Khalil Tate forcing a Wildcat punt.
Justin Herbert threw a touchdown pass to Travis Dye with just over ten minutes left in the game to give Oregon a 34-6 lead. Camden Lewis was not having a good night and missed the extra point.
In the end, Oregon won the game 34-6. It was the Ducks 9th straight win. Justin Herbert also scored his 100th career touchdown. The win should help the Ducks cause in the College Football Playoff announced on Tuesday evening.
Oregon Football heads to Arizona State next week to take on the Sundevils. Kickoff time will be announced on Sunday.
