Oregon Football has been here before and has even faced Wisconsin in recent years. This year there is talent on both sides of the ball.

The Oregon Ducks end their second season under Head Coach Mario Cristobal with not only a Pac-12 Championship but a Rose Bowl berth. We know Oregon will face the loser of the Big Ten Championship Game, the Wisconsin Badgers. Paul Chryst watched his team put up 21 points on Ohio State before the Buckeyes woke up to win the game on Saturday. The win pushed Ohio State down a spot to number two in the College Football Playoff standings. LSU, Clemson, and Oklahoma round out the playoff slate.

For Oregon, the Ducks moved up to number 6 following their decisive win over the Utah Utes. The loss to the Buckeyes moved Wisconson to 8th, so the Rose Bowl is a top ten matchup. The Badgers finished the season atop the Big Ten West, while Oregon was atop the Pac-12 North. Both teams it a stumbling block during the regular season. Wisconsin reeled off six wins in a row before losing to Illinois. They beat Michigan=, Nebraska, and Minnesota along the way.

Oregon Football lost to Arizona State and the Auburn Tigers, but both did enough to finish the regular season ranked in the top ten adding some additional intrigue to the matchup on New Year’s Day.

Wisconsin will be the home team in Pasadena and the Ducks will be the visiting team. Oregon enters the game with one of the best Offensive Lines in the country along with a talented Wide Receiver group and a first-round NFL Draft pick in Quarterback Justin Herbert.

The Badgers enter with one of the best Running Backs in the country in Jonathan Taylor who has shown that he can step into the spotlight in big moments this season. Oregon has seen the run game struggle a bit in recent weeks before CJ Verdell stepped up for over 200 yards in the Pac-12 Championship game.

Wisconsin Quarterback Jack Coan does not have Herbert’s numbers but has been efficient completing 83 percent of his passes this season for over 2500 yards and 17 touchdowns. He has just five touchdowns against AP Top 25 teams.

Oregon and Wisconsin meet in the Rose Bowl on January 1st. Kickoff is set for 2 pm Pacific Time on ABC.
