Oregon Basketball learned a lesson on how to finish a game in their 72-61 loss at Washingon State on Thursday night.

The Oregon Ducks tried to keep it close in the second half, succeeding on several occasions to pull within two points, but with under two minutes to go, the Oregon Offense went dormant allowing the Cougars to reel off 10 points in less than a minute to pull off the upset over the 8th ranked Ducks.

For Washington Stat CJ Ellerby finished with a game-high 25 points and the Ducks had no answers as he was 9 for 20 from the floor as the Cougars hit better than 50 percent from three-point range in the game. Both teams came away with double-digit turnovers turning into 20 points for each team respectively.

Oregon again turned to Payton Pritchard. The Senior finished with 22 points. Chris Duarte finished the game with 15 points. For the Ducks, who have seen their Freshman play a key role early this season, against WSU they were non-existent. N’Faly Dante continued to show his progression with six points in 12 minutes on the floor.

When you are a top ten team you need to show that you can bounce back. The Pac-12 Conference is loaded with solid teams this season including the Washington schools. With all of the upsets of ranked teams over the last few weeks, it would have been nice to see Oregon Basketball take a bigger step forward, but they continue to take a few steps back.  Of course, now is the time to do that.

The lessons learned now will pay dividends in a few months and Oregon will need to step up on Saturday in a nationally televised game on CBS against the Washington Huskies. Tip time is set for 12:45 pm on CBS.
