Oregon Basketball: Payton Pritchard Powers Ducks To OT Win at Washington
Oregon Basketball was led by Payton Pritchard for the second straight game, an overtime win at Washington.
To start the game, Anthony Mathis came off the bench and Will Richardson saw his first start of the season. The hope was it could help the team get a split on their road trip vs the Washington schools. Unfortunately, both Mathis and Richardson combined for three total points against the Huskies on Saturday. The Ducks would find another way to win. Payton Pritchard. Again.
Oregon played most of the game from behind and found a way in the final minutes. The Ducks played a cleaner game with just eight turnovers which allowed them to make a few runs. Payton Pritchard led with 22 points and Chandler Lawson put in 16 points. Chris Duarte finished the game with 7 points off 2 for 10 shooting.

Isaiah Stewart led the way for Washington. He played 42 minutes finishing with 25 points off of 6 for 13 shooting. He also hit 12 of his 15 shots from the free-throw line. Oregon did what good teams need to do. They used experience and won the game. Despite a loss and an overtime win, Oregon is still among the top teams in the Pac-12 Conference and is still the team to beat.
The level of competition also means that the Ducks need to have their eyes on the ball as younger players gain experience and in particular, N’Faly Dante needs to continue the process of learning to play at this level with his teammates. It also helps that several ranked teams also lost this weekend, including Duke to Louisville. The Bluedevls have lost twice this week.
It is clear that Payton Pritchard, as he has done the last three years, remains the catalyst for this team. Anthony Mathis will also need to return to form in the coming weeks. Mathis has been non-existent over the last few games.
Oregon returns home to Matthew Knight Arena to host USC on Thursday night. Tipoff is set for 8 pm on Pac-12 Network.
