Oregon Women’s Basketball: Ducks Dominate Washington State, Win Pac-12 Championship

The Oregon Ducks opened the game on a 13-0 run and never looked back. The win gave the Oregon Women’s Basketball team their third straight Pac-12 Regular Season Championship.

The Oregon Ducks entered the game tied for a share of the Pac-12 Title after their win againt Stanford on Monday night. A win on Friday night would secure the Pac-12 Crown outright for the Ducks and Washington State was in their way.

Oregon opened the game with a clinic including shots inside and a 13 point run. In the first three minutes, Sabrina Ionescu had two points and five assists forcing a Washington State timeout. Oregon had a 30-11 lead after the first quarter and were shooting 76 percent from the floor for the opening 10 minutes of the game.

Sabrina Ionescu and Satou Sabally were the only players to play the full 10 minutes. Ionescu had 4 points and 8 rebounds. Sabally 8 points and 3 rebounds.

Oregon outscored Washington State 23-15 in the second quarter taking a 53-26 into the locker room. Ruthy Hebard led all scorers with 20 points and 6 rebounds. Sabrina Ionescu was making her presence felt with 4 points, 3 rebounds, and 10 assists in the opening 20 minutes. Oregon outrebounded Washington State 16 to 8 in the opening half.

Satou Sabally and Ruthy Hebard got caught up with Sablly limping off with a lower left leg injury. She was able to walk on in it, but did not return to the floor for the Ducks.

While Oregon had control in the first three quarters, Washington State scored the first nine points of the 4th Quarter pulling to within 26 points. Sabrina Ionescu helped put the Oregon lead back to 28.

When all was said and done, Oregon won the game and claimed their third straight Pac-12 Regular Season title. Oregon has played 8 of their last 10 games on the road and are happy to have the final two games of the regular season at home, including vs Washington State.
