Oregon Football has added an elite talent at Tight End in the addition of Moliki Matavao. He is part of next year’s class and the 14th addition for the Class of 2021.

The Tight End position has always been a key to the Offensive success of the Ducks. Oregon has had some struggles at the position in recent seasons with injuries to key players. With Offensive Coordinator Joe Moorehead at the helm, the Tight End spot will certainly remain a key spot and check down for the Quarterback.

Oregon enters the upcoming season with Hunter Kampmoyer as a Senior and another big talent in Spencer Web who did see some action last season. With Matavao, Oregon now has the top recruit in three states nationally and the coaching staff clearly is not done.

The Ducks did not sign a Tight end for the 2020 class. Sophomore Cam McCormick, who started last season on a tear before going down with a season-ending injury applied for a medical that was granted so he will have an additional two seasons as a Duck. He has the most on-field experience entering the 2020 season, but it is not clear when he will see the field. Patrick Herbert the brother of former Quarterback Justin Herbert will also be on the roster.

What is clear, is that Oregon Football now has their sights set on the Tight End position. Moorehead is looking to build his influence on the roster and it is clear that Mario Cristobal sees his vision for the Ducks Offense in the future.

Moliki Matavao will come to Eugene with the ability to build his frame somewhat. He also has shown athletic ability and is light on his feet according to 247Sports. According to the 247Sports Composite Rankings, Motavao is the 4th best tight end in the 2021 Recruiting Class.
