Oregon Football adds another piece of the future defensive puzzle with 4-Star Defensive Back Jaylin Davies.

In past seasons, the Oregon Football team has been known for their offense, but may soon be known for a lockdown defense. The Ducks have signed their fourth player out if California for the Class of 2021 with 4-Star Defensive Back Jaylin Davies.

Davies joins Troy Franklin and Kyron Ware-Hudson who will certainly help out on Offense adding to the Wide Receiver corps. Running Back Seven McGee adds speed and talent out of the backfield. The 2021 Recruiting Class is opening some eyes and the Ducks are now ranked in the top 10 on some key recruiting lists for next year’s class despite the impact of the coronavirus pandemic.

Davies is a 24/7 4-Star recruit who brings size to the position for Oregon. He comes in at 6 foot 1. Oregon Football has found a pipeline to Mater Dei High School in recent years and that link continues with Davies who managed two interceptions and 25 tackles playing in 9 games in 2019. With the pandemic, the timeline for recruits to commit or even visit respective schools seems to have moved up slightly. With College Football now having a timeline to return, it is not known if high school players from across the country will have a chance to play this Fall.

Right now, the Ducks are behind several schools for ESPN 300 Commitments and are behind just Ohio State, Clemson, and North Carolina. Something that has helped Oregon, aside from the new brand that Mario Cristobal brought to the table after several seasons of worry is consistency. Not only consistency in what he says, but also what he does. Of course, keeping the same coaching staff, for the most part, has also played a big role.

Last year the Ducks signed top recruit, Kayvon Thibodeaux. For 2020, they added Justin Flowe. With player departing following the upcoming season, Oregon now has three Defensive Backs who will likely be competing for a starting role. Along with Davies, Oregon has added Darren Barkins and JUCO Standout Jadarrius Perkins.
