Oregon Football will look to find a road win against a team still looking for their first victory of the season at California.

If there is a team that has been affected by the coronavirus pandemic, perhaps more than any other, it is the California Golden Bears. They have missed a few games, had one that was made up on a Sunday, and now face an Oregon Football team looking to find quick answers after a loss vs Oregon State.

Last year I picked California as a potential dark horse in the Pac-12. At the time it was to likely get to a decent bowl game after competing well. They had the pieces and the Head Coach to do it, or so I thought at the time. Now, the 2020 conference only season has California at 0-3 still in search of their first win…..in December. The Golden Bears have just two games left including this Saturday to end the season with a win.

The thing is, this Golden Bears team has talent. On the defensive side, they may have one of the better defensive linemen in the conference in Camryn Bynum and Elijah Hicks who have played with their hair on fire. Josh Drayden did not allow a catch a few weeks ago in a loss to Oregon State.

On offense, Damien Moore was able to reel off 121 yards vs Stanford. Quarterback Chase Garbers, when given time, has been able to find his wide receivers and gain positive yardage. Kekoa Crawford and Makai Polk will be players to watch against Oregon Football on Saturday. Both have found ways to make tough catches and have only dropped one pass between them this season.

For Oregon, the Ducks still control their own fate in a strange 2020 season. They will host Washington to close things out the regular season next week and a spot in the Pac-12 Championship could well be on the line, but they will need to get past California. Last week they went into a big beaver trap needing a near-perfect game. They did not get it. They were gashed by the Oregon State running game and Jermar Jefferson. Nolan Chance scored the go-ahead, game-winning touchdown for the Beavers with just 33 seconds left as Oregon found their first loss of the season.

Oregon Football now heads on the road to face a hungry California team looking for their first win. Kickoff is set for 4 pm Saturday on ESPN.
