Oregon Basketball: Ducks Win Battle vs San Francisco
Eugene Omoruyi led four players in double figures and Oregon Basketball held on for a 74-64 win over San Francisco at Matthew Knight Arena on Thursday.
Oregon Basketball played the first of two games against West Coast Conference opponents. The game with San Francisco was scheduled earlier this week. The Dons had a game earlier this week cancelled due to COVID-19 and were able to get into Eugene on Wednesday. It nearly made a difference.

Oregon Head Coach Dana Altman watched his team struggle toward the end of the game going over four minutes in the final moments without scoring a basket and allowing San Francisco to pull within 10 points. Khalil Shabazz was just 1 for 9 from the floor for the Dons, but finished the game with 11 points.
For the Oregon Ducks, Eugene Omoruyi was again the difference-maker. He finished with 19 points, 5 rebounds and a steal. Both teams struggled from distance with Oregon shooting just 21 percent from three-point range. San Francisco hit just 23 percent. The Ducks were able to find 16 points off of 14 turnovers.
Despite finishing the game with 12 turnovers, 5 of them occurred in the final five minutes of the game. Rebounds were important in this game The Ducks won the rebounding battle 39 to 35, but the Ducks lost some of their offensive efficiency from the last four games. San Francisco finished the game with 10 assists.
Eric Williams Jr. has been a bright spot for the Oregon Ducks this season. He finished with 16 points, shooting 5 for 11 from the floor and was a key contributor from the charity stripe hitting 6 of 8 from the foul line. Both teams struggled in this area with Oregon shooting 16 for 23 for 70 percent.
At this early point of the season, San Francisco came into Matthew Knight Arena and showed they could play with Oregon. This time of the year, when you are scheduling games on the fly, you take the win and look to get better.
