This weekend, the Oregon Ducks look to begin on the path to the College World Series beginning with the Eugene Regional. After an incredible regular season, Oregon earned the 11th National Seed which comes with hosting a regional, but it won't be an easy path to Super Regionals. Coming to Eugene are a pair of former Pac 12 foes in Oregon State and Washington State along with the Ivy League Champion Yale Bulldogs.

Oregon State coming to Eugene will lead the discussion around the regional as the In-State rivalry will be on full display if the two sides face off at any point this weekend. Given that many analysts thought Oregon State was a potential top 16 seed who would host a regional, the Ducks were handed a tough draw to survive the Eugene Regional, especially considering the short trip the Beavers fans can make.

Oddsmakers send confusing message on the Ducks chances to advance

Coming into the Regional, many will look at this as group as a battle between the Ducks and the Beavers to advance to Super Regionals. FanDuel Sportsbook issued lines for the teams to win the Eugene Regional, and the hosting Oregon Ducks have a leg up on the field as the favorite.

Eugene Regional Odds:

  • Oregon Ducks -135
  • Oregon State Beavers +145
  • Yale Bulldogs +1200
  • Washington State Cougars +1600

While the Ducks are listed as the favorites to win the Eugene Regional, the oddsmakers aren't fully sold on Oregon having better chances than the Beavers to win the College World Series. FanDuel Sportsbook's odds for each team to win the College World Series list the Beavers with a better chance to win it all.

College World Series Odds:

  • Oregon State Beavers: +4500
  • Oregon Ducks: +5500
  • Washington State Cougars: +25000
  • Yale Bulldogs: +100000

The split odds for Oregon and Oregon State are interesting to say the least, but point to how close the two teams are on paper. Oregon likely has the advantage to win the Regional as the home team while getting to start against Yale who's the 4th ranked team in the group.

Regardless of who wins the Eugene Regional, the winner will likely have to go on the road for Super Regionals as the 6th seeded Texas Longhorns look like clear frontrunners to hold serve in the Austin Regional.

Considering how the regional will likely be decided by the Ducks and Beavers, it'll be interesting to see if either team plays for the matchup or if they approach the Regional straight up. Either team choosing to adjust their pitching to a potential matchup could flip the Regional on it's head if either Yale or Washington State managed to pull off the upset.

Getting a chance to watch a rivalry matchup in regionals will be special as this is the first time the two programs have been matched up in a regional. Given how the Ducks and Beavers just booked a 3 game series for next season, and the football rivalry returning, the fans have been given a great potential for smack talk.
