The Oregon Ducks are at the halfway point of their official visit weekends after wrapping up Week 2 on Sunday. The results thus far have been impressive for the staff as they’ve reeled in 4 commitments 3 of which came after the second weekend. As the Summer continues, Dan Lanning and the staff will look to continue bolstering this class as the Ducks start their climb toward a top 5 recruiting class.

This weekend resulted in the Ducks landing a trio of commitments with WR Malachi Garlington, DE Achilles Reyna, and TE George VanSandt. After landing in-state TE George VanSandt, the Ducks appear to be on the verge of landing a second tight end in this class.

Oregon predicted to land elite TE recruit Anthony Cartwright

On June 19th, the Oregon Ducks will get talented tight end recruit Anthony Cartwright on campus for an Official Visit. Ahead of the official visit, it appears that the Ducks have taken the lead as Rivals' Max Torres logged an expert prediction for Oregon to beat out the Michigan Wolverines, among others, for the commitment.

Among the teams in contention for Anthony Cartwright, the Wolverines are going to be the biggest challenge for Oregon. Cartwright has been a frequent visitor in Ann Arbor on gamedays as well as this Spring. Michigan will get Cartwright on campus once more this weekend which could be a cause for concern for the Ducks.

According to Rivals' Industry Recruiting Rankings, Anthony Cartwright is the 341st ranked player in the Country, the 18th ranked tight end in the class, and the 8th ranked player out of Michigan. Dan Lanning and the staff are looking to pull off a heist in the state of Michigan as the Ducks are also battling the Wolverines for elite wide receiver Dakota Guerrant.

At 6-foot-4.5 and 235 pounds, Anthony Cartwright has a similar build to former Oregon tight end Kenyon Sadiq. When you watch Cartwright on film, he can be deployed in a similar fashion as well, with an ability to split out wide like a bigger wide receiver or play in-line. The most impressive part of Cartwright's tape is the fact that he's impossible to bring down with just one defender.

The goal for Oregon now is to hope that Anthony Cartwright III makes it to campus, as Michigan could make a major push to try, and get him to shut down the recruitment. Cartwright coming to campus the same weekend as Will Mencl will be key for the Ducks, as he'll get to help the staff as a recruiter. Landing Anthony Cartwright and George VanSandt in the same recruiting class would go a long way in keeping the tight end pipeline flowing.
