The Oregon Ducks are enjoying the first big weekend on the recruiting trail as the first group of official visits are underway. Several Oregon commits return to campus to help the staff recruit as they try to build up the class. While Oregon has a strong group of commits on campus, missing from the group is 5-star QB Will Mencl.
Will Mencl is currently at the Elite 11 finals competing against a handful of other QBs in this cycle for the title of the best quarterback recruit in the class. Just because the Ducks' headline commit isn't in Eugene doesn't mean that he's not putting in work for Dan Lanning on the recruiting trail.
Will Mencl calls out the WRs he's recruiting to Oregon
As some of the top QBs arrive for the Elite 11 finals, they gave interviews to 24/7 Sports including Will Mencl. While Oregon doesn't currently have a wide receiver commitment, Will Mencl is looking to change that as he declared that Oregon is pushing hard for several top wide receiver recruits.

Mencl said: "We want Dakota Guerrant, we want Xavier Sabb, we want Blake Wong, we want Bode Sparrow. In the 2028 class we really want Braylon Clark - just to name a few.

To most Oregon fans, hearing that the Ducks are after this group of wide receivers is no surprise, as the Ducks have hosted them on unofficial visits. The big difference for the Ducks is having Will Mencl fully engaged in the recruitments as he's arguably the biggest asset the Ducks could possibly have.
Dakota Guerrant has seemingly been the Ducks' top recruiting target regardless of position this cycle. The Michigan Native ranks as the 43rd ranked player in the country, the 8th wide receiver in the class, and the top player out of Michigan. If the Ducks are going to land Dakota Guerrant they'll need to beat out the in-state Wolverines, but having Will Mencl is a great advantage for Dan Lanning.
Xavier Sabb is spending the weekend in Baton Rouge with the LSU Tigers, and he'll also visit Georgia, Alabama, and Tennessee before taking the trip to Eugene. The New Jersey native is a 5-star recruit with elite athletic ability, which gives him a chance to make an immediate impact at the next level. The biggest challenge will be beating out Alabama, where Sabb's two brothers play for Kalen DeBoer.
Wide receiver Blake Wong released a final 5 list of Oregon, BYU, Ohio State, Utah, and UCLA back in April. The recruitment for Wong is jam packed, and the Ducks will need to impress during his official visit if they're going to win out.
Bode Sparrow is an interesting recruit to follow as he could end up being a two-way player with his ability as a wide receiver and a defensive back. The Utah Native has been seen as a front runner to land at Oklahoma, but the Ducks are 1 of the final 4 schools for the elite recruit.
The Ducks are now looking to start landing some of these big name recruits that Will Mencl called out as the Summer progresses. Dan Lanning and the Ducks have landed in a great place with Xavier Sabb and Dakota Guerrant, but official visits could end up deciding both recruitments.
