Dan Lanning and the Oregon Ducks coaching staff have been on an incredible run to start the Summer on the recruiting trail. Coming into the Summer, it was clear the coaching staff needed to go on a run using official visits to build out this class. Dan Lanning and the staff have used the visits to secure 10 commitments, bringing the class to 23 commitments.
After landing the duo of Hayden Stepp and Tae Walden Jr on July 1st, Oregon is back in familiar territory with a top 5 ranked class sliding into 4th in the recruiting rankings. While the coaching staff has built up this class, the fanbase has been waiting for that elite 5-star talent to jump on board which arrived on Friday Afternoon.
Elite 5-star WR Xavier Sabb commits to Oregon
The recruiting win that every Oregon fan has been waiting on is with elite wide receiver recruit Xavier Sabb. While the older two Sabb brothers are playing football at Alabama, the youngest brother has been looking to pave his own path, and the Ducks positioned themselves best as the coaching staff has done an outstanding job recruiting the New Jersey native.
On Friday Afternoon, Xavier Sabb finally announced his commitment, picking the Oregon Ducks over LSU, Tennessee, and UCLA.
The win marks another major commitment in a red hot Summer for Dan Lanning and the coaching staff on the recruiting trail. Oregon has landed commitment after commitment this Summer, and Sabb joins the class as a 5-star recruit taking it up another level.
According to Rivals' Industry Recruiting Rankings, Xavier Sabb is a 5-star recruit, ranked as the 32nd ranked player in the Country, the 5th ranked wide receiver in the class, and the 2nd ranked player out of New Jersey.
After landing Xavier Sabb, Oregon's recruiting class makes another jump in the rankings, vaulting the Ducks ahead of Miami for the Nation's 3rd ranked recruiting class. The Ducks now have a pair of 5-star recruits, as Xavier Sabb joins edge rusher Rashad Streets, who continues to fly up the rankings.
Oregon has managed to reel in a loaded group of offensive skill players, which is now headlined by the addition of Sabb. The Ducks have two top-50 ranked players in the class at wide receiver with Xavier Sabb and Dakota Guerrant. The duo will be thrown to by elite quarterback Will Mencl while Anthony Cartwright III and CaDarius McMiller are 4-stars at tight end and running back.
Between the players already ranked as 5-stars, and some of the other elite recruits in this class, Oregon's 5-star total should only grow. Players like Will Mencl, Dakota Guerrant, Hayden Stepp, Tae Walden Jr, and Semaj Stanford could all easily join Sabb and Streets to make this class arguably the best in the country.
The big time recruiting wins may slow down now as the Ducks have reeled in most of their top targets on the trail. As the focus slowly starts to shift to the upcoming season, Dan Lanning and the staff have once again done an outstanding job building one of the best recruiting classes in the country.
