2024 Oregon football schedule: When is Oregon Ducks vs. Purdue?
By Ethan Lee
It won’t be quite a week after the Oregon Ducks meet up with the Ohio State Buckeyes that they get to hit the road off to the Midwest, but it’s almost a week! The Friday following the biggest game on the 2024 Oregon football schedule marks Oregon's first trip to visit Purdue since the 1970’s, adding another rather significant highlight to the Ducks’ inaugural Big Ten season.
And while the Purdue Boilermakers don’t have a ton of talent like the Ducks do, this road test could still be tricky for Dan Lanning and his Oregon football team. Purdue has been known to be a problem to Big Ten powerhouses and they’ve got some coaches interested in running the Air Raid there.
Plus, it’s right after Oregon hosts Ohio State. This could certainly be something of a trap game for Lanning and the Ducks and it’s quietly one of the most intriguing road tests that the 2024 Oregon football schedule has.

Again, the Ohio State Buckeyes are familiar with the sort of unexpected challenge that Purdue can present to national title hopefuls. And that game against the Buckeyes just SIX DAYS PRIOR TO THIS ROAD GAME OFF TO THE MIDWEST IN THE MIDDLE OF OCTOBER WHEN THINGS START GETTING A BIT FRIGID THERE will be pretty physical.
I, for one, don’t love the timing of this game on the 2024 Oregon football schedule. It’s not an ideal spot for the Ducks to get anything like a unique challenge against a program that is somewhat known for its weird ability to randomly upset higher-ranked opponents.
Not that I’m all that afraid of Purdue as a program or think that the Boilermakers are sure to beat the Ducks.
I just happen to vividly remember the 29-point win that Purdue got over Ohio State back in 2018.
2024 Oregon football schedule: Ducks vs. Purdue
- Who: Oregon Ducks vs. Purdue Boilermakers
- What: Seventh game of the 2024 Oregon Ducks schedule
- When: Friday, October 18 at 5 p.m.
- Where: Ross-Ade Stadium in West Lafayette, Indiana
Objectively and rationally speaking, this should be a huge win for Oregon. The Ducks are loaded with talent and Purdue struggled to get to a meager four victories last season. But, well, weirder things have happened. Like that 29-point beating Purdue delivered to the Buckeyes.
So, I’m not counting anything related to this weird road trip on the 2024 Oregon football schedule as a given.
