The AP Top 25 screwed over the Oregon Ducks by leaving Texas at No. 1

The Oregon Ducks have risen to No. 2 in the AP Top 25 but they deserve the top spot which still belongs to the Texas Longhorns.

The Oregon Ducks toppled the No. 2 team in the country on Saturday when they defeated the Ohio State Buckeyes. Oregon was already the No. 3 team in the country but took over the second spot in the rankings after the big-time win.

However, the Ducks deserve the top spot in the country instead of the currently No. 1, the Texas Longhorns. Before we get into the why, sure, Texas is a great team, there is no denying that, but the Horns' season so far doesn't compare to the Ducks'.

With that being said, here are just a few reasons why Oregon should be the No. 1 team in the nation:

Oregon has the better Strength of Resume

According to ESPN, the Ducks have had the more difficult season so far. In fact, Oregon has the No. 1 Strength of Resume per ESPN while the Longhorns fall at No. 6 in the rankings.

The programs between the two teams in the rankings are Penn State, BYU, Miami (FL), and Iowa State. Texas has yet to face teams like Georgia or Alabama while Oregon has already taken down powerhouse programs this season.

Oregon has the more-difficult schedule

Sure, Texas has to take on the Georgia Bulldogs soon but other than that, the Longhorns have a relatively easy road ahead of them until they face the No. 14 Texas A&M Aggies.

Meanwhile, the Ducks still have to host the No. 22 Illinois Fighting Illini and visit the No. 24 Michigan Wolverines in Ann Arbor, not to mention they have to face their old Pac-12 rivals, the Washignton Huskies, to end their regular season and that game is always anyone's game.

Oregon has more ranked wins

While the Boise State Broncos weren't ranked when they played against the Ducks, the Mountain West squad has now skyrocketed to the No. 15 spot in the country and is just one of the currently-ranked opponents Oregon has defeated this year.

The Buckeyes were the Ducks' second top-25 team of the season so far and Dan Lanning's team walked away with the resounding win, and the picture-perfect field storming afterward. Oregon is tied for the most ranked wins by a ranked team with 2, alongside BYU.

On the other side of the coin, Texas has only defeated the then-No. 10 but now-No. 24 Michigan Wolverines earlier this season. Maybe, just maybe, once the Horns take down the currently-No. 5 Georgia Bulldogs, Texas will have an argument to be the top team in the country.

However, for now, the Oregon Ducks deserve to hold that No. 1 spot and the Texas Longhorns should have been bumped down to No. 2 in the rankings.
