Sports Illustrated: Vernon Adams Has One Final Exam To Pass Before Joining Oregon

Fall Camp opened for the Oregon Ducks on Monday and in the first afternoon practice, Quarterback Jeff Lockie picked up where he left off in the Spring Game throwing a touchdown in the first 7 on 7 drill according to Rob Moseley with GoDucks.com. Not a bad start to the Spring. When it comes to the game of football practice is the foundation, but the real pressure happens on the field on gameday. One player, who hopes to wear an Oregon uniform this season, Vernon Adams has a differnt pressure to get past on Thursday to clear the last hurdle before becoming a member of the Oregon Football team. He has to pass one final test. A final exam to be exact.

According to Lindsay Schnell from Sports Illustrated, Thursday morning at 1:30pm Pacific Time Vernon Adams will know the result of his hour long final and if he passed. If he does indeed pass, he will join Oregon in Practice on Thursday or Friday and battle it out with Junior Jeff Lockie for the starting spot. If he doesn’t pass a return to Eastern Washington is a possibility, according to Schnell, but probably not likely as his old team may not want him back.

All eyes will be on the internet on Thursday  searching Vernon Adams. Worst case scenerio aside, the Oregon Ducks will be in capable hands regardless of the outcome with Adams. I believe that Jeff Lockie has done enough, and played enough behind Marcus Mariota, when he played, to lead this team. Adams may be the more athletic of the two, but Lockie had a solid Spring, a perfect Spring Game and has confidence building heading into 2015. If Adams passes his final, we could be in store for the biggest Quarterback battle we have seen in Eugene in some time between Vernon Adams and Jeff Lockie.

Oregon starts the 2015 season hosting Adams’ old team, Eastern Washington on Saturday, September 5th(5pm Pacific Time, Pac-12 Networks)
