The Oregon Ducks long road trip ended briefly on Thursday night with a match in their home state, just not their home court. The team opened Pac-12 play with a Civil War matchup with in-state rival Oregon State who entered the game on a four game losing streak. It was the Freshman who led the Oregon Ducks to a W in the win column.
Led by Lindsey Vander Weide who was a perfect seven for seven in the first set had a career night with twenty-five kills and sixteen digs as Oregon took three of four sets from the Beavers in the win. Vander Weide hit .457 and helped the Ducks to another night of over .300 hitting as a team according to GoDucks.com. Maggie Scott also had a double-double on the night helping with fifty-seven kills. She also tallied eleven digs. It was good to see after nearly a two week hiatus that Oregon picked up right where they left off. The win gets Oregon to 7-3 and 1-0 in the Pac-12 Conference.
The Pac-12 road trip continues on Sunday as the Ducks have a top twenty matchup with fourteenth ranked Arizona in Tucson, Arizona. The Wildcats suffered their first loss of the season on Thursday falling in four sets against in-state rival Arizona State, ranked seventh in the country.
Oregon and Arizona will tipoff at 2pm Pacific Time on Sunday. The match will be broadcast on ESPNU.
