The Oregon Ducks Women’s Volleyball team has had an up and down season in 2015. After starting the year on the road with success, the Pac-12 slate in the first half has been anything but easy. The first half of the season was off to a phenomenal 5-0 start. Pac-12 play sees the Oregon Ducks at 5-7 with a win coming on Saturday against Colorado on the road. The team will look to extend the winning this weekend against a highly ranked Stanford team on Thursday and California on Saturday.
Oregon has won four of their last nine games including getting swept at home by top ranked USC. Stanford enters with a 15-5 record and the Ducks can begin to work their way back into the rankings with a good showing this weekend. The Cardinal enter on a four game winning streak. Freshman Hayley Hodson is one to watch. She averages close to four kills per set. Oregon lost to Stanford earlier this season on the Farm. The easier matchup for the weekend will be Cal, a game that Oregon should win.
Cal comes in with a 9-14 record, but have won three of their last five matches. Oregon does have a few things on their side. Against the Bears earlier this season on the road, the Ducks hit at a .350 clip. The Ducks have also won four straight matches against the Golden Bears in Volleyball. Wins against Stanford and Cal will help Oregon in the long run and as they look toward a possible post season run. The thing is, with the rough first half of the Pac-12 season, that run begins right now for the Oregon Ducks.
