The Oregon Volleyball team had had plenty of adversity to fight through this season and Thursday night was another example. While they played well at times, and led early the team was unable to finish a set off and lost again at home to seventh ranked Stanford. In the first set, the Ducks led 17-11 but allowed the Cardinal to get some momentum scoring ten of the next thirteen points to secure the victory. The second set was a different story.
The momentum was even keel till midway through the set when the better team took advantage and opened up a four point lead. The Cardinal then finished off Oregon for a 2-0 lead going into the break. In the first set the Cardinal hit at over a .500 clip. The Oregon Ducks had a problem defensively and held Stanford on just two blocked shots in the first two sets. Momentum was out the window from the beginning for the home team.
Lindsay Vander Weide led Oregon in kills for the first time this season with 11, hitting at .241 on the night. Taylor Agost had nine kills on the evening. Martenne Bettendorf finished with eight. Time to turn around the ship is running out. Oregon needs to be one game over .500 to be considered for the NCAA Tournament. The Oregon Ducks do have the homefield advantage of having five of their final seven games at home this season. Someone needs to step up as the leader of this team. It is clear that in 2015 having multiple leaders does not help in the win column.
