Oregon Ducks Among Pac-12 Conference Top Teams Following First Weeks Of Action
By Mike Vamosi
The Pac-12 Conference has a solid argument this season as one of the best in the Country. With early season losses by contenders after the first official week of Conference play, it is truly anyone’s Conference to win.
Conference basketball is in full swing with nearly every team playing at least three Pac-12 games thus far. So far we’ve got surprise leaders on top with Washington, Southern California and Oregon occupying the top three spots. Arizona and Utah who were picked by many to be higher in the standings have gotten off to slower starts than expected.

The Washington Huskies are 3-0 so far which is mildly surprising given that they went 8-4 in non-conference play and didn’t seem like they’d get out to this type of start. Andy Enfield’s USC Trojans are arguable the most impressive at 3-1 and 14-3 overall so far after a rough start to his tenure. Wayne Tinkle started getting attention last season and the Oregon State Beavers have started where they left off opening at 2-1 and 11-3.
The Stanford Cardinal team didn’t play real well outside league play but sit at 2-2 and 9-6 having knocked off Utah at Maples Pavilion but falling to Oregon in Eugene on Sunday.
California has shown flashes but have split their first four league games which UCLA has done the same but did knock off Kentucky at Pauley Pavilion.
The lower tier of the Pac-12 slate includes a surprise in Arizona, who is expected to be among the cream of the crop on the Pac-12 Conference year in and year out. Colorado and Utah are all 1-2 which is a little surprising given their rosters but the Wildcats did suffer a big injury this weekend while the Buffaloes and Utes need to start playing consistent which can be said for all three teams.
Washington State is also 1-2 but Ernie Kent’s team will be a pesky team for anyone who travels to Pullman or hosts the Cougars. Bobby Hurley’s Sun Devils played well in the non-conference but Arizona State remains winless early on this season.
