Dan Lanning and the Oregon Ducks are making a powerful football team even more powerful as the No. 1 team in the nation dominates the winter transfer portal.

The winter transfer portal taketh and giveth – even for the No. 1 team in the country. However, as Dan Lanning and the Oregon Ducks prepare for their College Football Playoffs game on Jan. 1, the Ducks are sitting pretty as the end of the portal window comes closer.

Most recently, Lanning and the Ducks acquired two major commitments from the portal, including former Nevada offensive tackle Isaiah World and former Louisville tight end Jamari Johnson.

Beyond the two commitments this week, Oregon also picked up the No. 1 safety in the portal, Dillon Thieneman from the Purdue Boilermakers, and junior cornerback Theran Johnson from the Northwestern Wildcats.

While the Ducks have earned some major props due to Lanning's work in the portal, Oregon has lost a handful of young talents this December.

Oregon Ducks in the winter transfer portal

  • Jac'Qawn McRoy – Freshman offensive lineman – committed to the Arkansas Razorbacks
  • Jaxson Jones – Freshman linebacker/edge
  • Tyler Turner – Redshirt freshman defensive back
  • Khamari Terrell – Junior defensive back

It feels like every single day, more and more players express their interest in Lanning's program in Eugene. A win in the first-ever 12-team College Football Playoffs probably wouldn't hurt Lanning's efforts either.

Beyond the transfer portal, the Oregon Ducks have the No. 2 recruiting class in the nation for their group of 2025 prospects signed with the team – even after five-star wideout Dallas Wilson flipped his commitment to the Florida Gators.

Oregon's recruiting class of 2026 prospects currently ranks above the rest of the country with 1 five-star, 7 four-star, and 2 three-star recruits currently committed to the Ducks.
